Origins
The story begins in Southeast Asia, which is the area of origin of the pork belly. Cultivated for centuries by the Vietnamese, was the belly for the first time in the United States in 1985 through the pioneering efforts of Keith Connell. Keith has 20 pigs in Europe, after being found in a zoo, and while some did not survive the trip, 18 of them were successful. This was the source population, which provided one of the two main lines of the belly in North America. Another important area of the pig began when Keith Leavitt made pigs in Texas and began their efforts to reproduce. The year was 1989, so you can see that these children do not in the U.S. long ago.
