Today October 4 met two years since the Canine Rescue Centre opened its doors Ñuñoa rescue dogs roaming the streets of the municipality. The compound belongs to the Department of Environment of the municipality, through veterinarians and technicians have performed more than 1,000 rescues stray dogs, lost, abandoned and several injured. Of these, over 900 have been adopted, others have been recovered by their families after being lost in Ñuñoa and from other communities. Some have endured the severity of violations and other accidents, and today as many are waiting to be adopted.
In these 2 years, volunteers have played a special role, because we who spend time, companionship and love to the rescue helping them to become more sociable and adoptable summarized. We will continue our work, supporting the adoption and educating on responsible pet ownership especially as we are convinced that the killing of dogs is not the solution.
Important: in the CRC is not practiced as a first step eutansia or control the dog population. Instead, the municipality performed sterilizations and castrations (free) dogs of residents of the commune. Experience shows that the solutions are early neutering, responsible pet ownership and education.
